Southern Discoveries is set to introduce new coach and cruise products between Queenstown and Milford Sound that will further enhance what is widely regarded as the trip of a lifetime.
In February, the company announced it was investing in a fleet of state-of-the-art coaches to service their new coach and cruise day trips, and after a soft launch over winter, the full product launch will go ahead on 1 October.
The twice daily trips from Queenstown to Milford Sound will connect to Southern Discoveries Milford Sound Nature Cruise and Scenic Cruise and will be serviced by three new, purpose-built, low-emissions Scania 400EB coaches.
The new coaches feature an extra-wide glass roof that makes the most of the majestic alpine scenery on this world-renowned journey, and comfortable reclining seats with plenty of leg room.
Southern Discoveries CEO Tim Hunter says the company prides itself on its exceptional customer service and is always looking for new ways to improve on its product offering.
“The road to Milford Sound is a tourism experience in itself, and these new coaches will enable us to offer a seamless service from Queenstown, on vehicles and vessels that are purpose-built for sightseeing,” he says.
“Our friendly, professional and experienced drivers will ensure passengers have a comfortable and enjoyable journey, with foreign language commentary and the best photo opportunities and rest stops along the way.”
The launch of the new coach and cruise products comes as Southern Discoveries celebrates impressive growth, with significant investment over the past eight years in its Milford Sound and Queenstown operations.
“With visitor numbers to Milford Sound continuing to rise, we’re expecting strong demand for our new coach and cruise day trips from Queenstown,” Hunter says.
Other new experiences introduced by Southern Discoveries over recent years include kayaking in Milford Sound, scenic cruises on Lake Wakatipu and half-day cycling and high-country farm experiences in Queenstown.
