Premium Queenstown and Milford Sound tourism company Southern Discoveries has been awarded a Gold Sustainable Tourism Business Certification from Qualmark New Zealand, amplifying their strong mark on the New Zealand tourism industry.
Southern Discoveries CEO, Tim Hunter said the company has made a considerable effort to adapt the business to be more sustainable, whilst continuing to provide top quality tourism experiences.

The company has a strong commitment to energy and waste management, sustainability and conservation planning. Fuel monitoring, hydroelectric power on Mt Nicholas Farm, removal of all plastic water bottles from excursion lunches and boat kiosks and sponsorship of the Sinbad Sanctuary Project in Milford, are among a number of processes put in place to drive environmental improvements.
In tandem with sustainability efforts, the business has in recent years established new low-emissions coach services from Queenstown to Milford Sound and introduced Lady Stirling, a 17 metre catamaran, to the fiord.
